About
Dr. Seema B Hegde is serving as a Professor in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at R V University, with over 23 years of experience in teaching, research, industry collaboration, and academic leadership. Her academic career has spanned prominent engineering institutions in Karnataka, including two decades at Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT), Tumakuru, and two years at Global Academy of Technology, Bengaluru.
Dr. Hegde holds a Ph.D. in Computer & Information Science from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, Karnataka, under the guidance of Prof. Pallapa Venkatram, former Professor at IISc Bengaluru, and Prof. B. Sathish Babu, Principal, Ramaiah Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. She completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from VTU, Belagavi.
Her research interests span Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), Digital Twins, Edge and Cloud Computing, Quantum Computing, Mobile Ad Hoc Networks, and Embedded Systems. She has published more than 25 peer-reviewed journal papers, international conference papers, and book chapters with reputed publishers and platforms, including Inderscience, CRC Press, and Springer Nature. She has authored a textbook and has contributed to intellectual property through one granted patent, one filed patent, and one published patent in areas including non-invasive under-soil grub detection, virtual keyboards, and wireless irrigation systems. She has also been actively involved in entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives through the Siddaganga Incubation Foundation, Tumakuru.
Dr. Hegde is a recognized research supervisor and currently guides two Ph.D. scholars. She has secured research funding from organizations including the Government of India (DST), ABB, and AICTE. Her consultancy and industry-oriented projects have involved organizations such as Aerotek Design, ABB Bengaluru, Samsung, and Continental.
She is a CISCO Certified Network Academy Instructor and the Founder Faculty Sponsor of an ACM Student Chapter and undergone the faculty internship at Central Manufacturing Technology Institution (CMTI), Bengaluru. She has contributed to academic governance through Boards of Studies and Boards of Examinations, chaired IEEE conferences, conducted Faculty Development Programmes, and delivered invited talks and selection committee member in recruitments. She has also contributed to student development through entrepreneurship initiatives, cultural activities, and continuous student mentoring, with a focus on fostering innovation and holistic development.
